General Improvements
Type Comment
Black Point Architect This new option in ColorGPS allows printing a chart with
variants of blacks and picking one of them as black point for
a specific rendering intent before generating the printer
profile.
Black Windows Theme Background Font colors and list appearances are improved for better
readability when using black Windows themes.
Classic Look for Application New application look “Classic Look” has been added to the
“View” menu so re-establish the 3D look of Version 14.
Cost Calculation – Ink Usage The preciseness for ink cost calculation has been increased.
Enhanced Controls for Additional Profile The new feature in ColorGPS gives more control on the
Channels usage of additional profile channels.
1- Soften color restrictions
This parameter allows to lower the algorithm, which restricts
additional profile channels to be printed closely at the gray
axis. Normally, the grey axis and its surrounding area should
be printed defined by GCR (CMYK) only for various reasons
(e.g. metamerism, smoother gradations).
On wider gamuts such as e.g. disperse, the standard rules
usually work just fine. While on smaller gamuts e.g. pigment
and reactive inks, they could have led to a lower use of the
additional profile channels.
2- Lightness limits
These parameters allow to forbid the use of additional profile
channels above or below a certain L value.
Forbidding above a certain L value can avoid graininess in
light color tones that is caused by a strong additional red or
blue ink.
Forbidding below a certain L value can avoid the usage of
e.g. fluorescent ink in dark area when fluorescent ink is used
as additional profile channels.
EPS Files – Parsing Parsing of EPS files has been speeded up.
Image Import – Image Format List The Image Format List used in the Image Import dialog and
the Image Scaling Property is updated.
Job Gradation Curves This new feature in the Job Properties allows the user to
assign custom gradation curves to a complete print job (not
image related). Color overall tone impressions or e.g. the
usage of additional profile channels can be modified the
most efficiently within the output color space.
The “Auto” function will try to optimize the dynamic of the
channel selected, while analyzing the output profile of the
present Print Environment. Custom gradation curves can be
assigned to each channel on top.
Media Size Presets – Managing Media Size presets have been added to the “Job Presets” in
menu “Tools > Edit Presets” as well as to Job Properties
pane “Media Size” to make access to them easier. All
functions that allow selecting a media size now can not only
filter for roll media only but newly also for sheet media only.
